Nepal Tourism Board Celebrates 22nd Anniversary

Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) celebrated its 22nd Anniversary on Dec. 31, 2020. The program was attended by Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) Bhanubhakta Dhakal, Secretary of MoCTCA Mr. Yadav Prasad Koirala, Members of NTB Executive Committee, representatives of the tourism industry, officials from the Government and private sector, NTB officials and the media.

NTB CEO Dr. Dhananjay Regmi warmly welcomed the guests and presented the promotional and development work conducted by NTB in 2020. He also shared his vision for 2021 to promote Nepal as a safe and beautiful destination worldwide. NTB annual publication “InFocus 2020” was officially unveiled at the program.

NTB also released domestic tourism song for “Deshdarshan” Campaign, and launched: Friends of Nepal website www.friendsofnepal.travel to engage Nepal lovers all over the world; NTB official Wechat for communication with China market; NTB Tiktok Deshdarshan Campaign for promotion of domestic tourism. Letters of Appreciation were also awarded to various industry professionals and stakeholders for their contribution and support in rescue and evacuation of tourists during the Lockdown period.

At the program, Hon’ble Tourism Minister appreciated the role of NTB to support and lead the tourism sector during the global pandemic. He laid emphasis on prioritization, pro action, and clarity in communication, for smoother implementation of feasible work in tourism sector. Similarly, Secretary Mr. Yadav while applauding the diligence of NTB, stressed on productivity and innovation with prompt services for quicker progress of tourism sector.

NTB Executive Committee Member Mr. Deepak Mahat requested for timely facilitation of relief packages to the industry in face of the crisis and also called for coordination among private sector to ensure industry goals are met. NTB Director Mr. Santosh Panta extended “Vote of Thanks” for the audience’s presence and support, while NTB Employees’ Union Mr. Gopal Bhandari – Officer spoke on employee issues.

Mr. Hikmat Singh Ayer – Sr. Director, Mr. Lila Bahadur Baniya – Sr. Manager, Mr. Nabin Pokharel – Manager, Mr. Gobinda Oli – Manager, Mr. Lekhnath Bhusal – Manager, and Mr. Hira Dhakal – Support Staff, who completed 20 years of service at NTB were felicitated at the program by Hon’ble Tourism Minister.

Similarly, Mr. Sitaram Dahal – Officer, and Mr. Kabindra Bhatta – Officer, were each awarded with Best Employee of the Year 2020 for their top performance. Ms. Shradha Shrestha – Manager, and Ms. Archana Kc Rana – Manager, received a special CEO’s Commendation for their consistent and outstanding contribution during the COVID-19 crisis and in digital marketing respectively.
